The Maine Flower Show is grateful to its generous sponsors who make this event possible.
The support of our sponsors demonstrates their commitment to Maine’s horticultural community while advancing awareness of the benefits of gardening, growing and yardscaping in the communities where we live. We kindly thank all our sponsors for their participation in making the inaugural Maine Flower Show a success.
Over 16,000 people visited the 2017 show – many more than expected. Even Saturday’s snowfall, the fourth largest April snow storm in recorded history, didn’t seem to impact overall attendance.
The 2017 Maine Flower Show’s theme was “Plant Something!” which ties into the Maine Landscape & Gardeners Association’s Plant Something Maine program. The show included 18 gardens constructed by approximately thirty MELNA members showcasing annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, stonework, as well as the talents and professionalism of our MELNA members! A panel of judges spent Wednesday afternoon carefully analyzing and scoring each garden. Their criteria ranged from plant quality to overall design, as well as the intricacy and installation of the components of each garden. On Wednesday evening, at the Maine Flower Show Premiere Night, several awards were presented highlighting special aspects of the gardens and the efforts of those who constructed them.
