Garden Federation of Maine

Seminar Topic: Growing Irises in Maine

This illustrated talk will cover various types of irises: bulbs, bearded and beardless. It will explain when they bloom, how to tell them apart, how to plant and divide them, pests and diseases, and what to do to prepare them for winter.

Harriet Robinson:

Harriet is the president of the Maine Iris Society and the First Vice President of the Garden Club Federation of Maine. She is a self taught gardener with 40 years of experience. My BA in Classics is a help with botanical names and my PhD in archaeology started her interest in working with dirt and rocks. A Maine native, she chose to stay in our beautiful state. She gardens in the Oxford Hills where  she grows some of the plants she enjoyed as wildflowers from her travels in Greece.
