Seminar Topic: Creating Your Own Mini Meadow
There’s never been a better time and we’ll walk through step by step on how you can create and enjoy a meadow this spring! (All in attendance will receive a free package of Mini Meadow Wildflower Mix)!!
Mike Lizotte, also known as “The Seed Man,” began his career in wildflowers at age 14, working in the wildflower meadows at American Meadows in Shelburne, Vermont. After attending the University of Vermont and receiving a Bachelors in Community Development and Applied Economics from the College of Ag. & Life Science, he went back to work at American Meadows in sales. Decades later, he is now co-owner of American Meadows, a certified Master Gardener, and an expert in all things wildflowers. He was recently featured on Growing a Greener World that airs nation wide on PBS, season 10 episode 11 – Creating a Meadow Garden, Anywhere around your Yard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ7pKXxZeug .
When Mike isn’t helping gardeners grow the wildflower meadows of their dreams, he enjoys spending time with his wife Raechel and their daughter Sadie. He plays hockey, loves to fish, spend time outdoors, and you may also find him refereeing local college hockey games.
Lizotte’s book, Mini Meadows: Grow a Little Patch of Colorful Flowers Anywhere around Your Yard, explores the idea that a wildflower meadow doesn’t have to be created in a large, sweeping field. Gardeners with small backyards can create mini meadows that achieve the same colorful look and help out pollinators, while also solving other problems in their landscape.
